Dominique’s Race Against Ransomware - Part Two - Transcript
Narrator: Dominique gets back to work after reviewing some cyber security awareness training material. Then she notices an email pop-up from an unknown person in the organization. The email appears to be from someone named Chris and has "Year End Finance Report" as the subject line. Dominique is intrigued by the email and begins to read through what it says. She finds an Excel attachment with the name Financial Reporting 2022 in the email. What is this Excel document she has suddenly received, and...
Dominique: Who's Chris?
Narrator: Dominique searches up Chris in the organization directory to check who he is. While doing this, she notices that the email address she received does not contain the health care facility's domain address and that it is marked as external to her organization. Based off the email from the health care facility's I.T. and security team earlier this morning, Dominique is on the defense and exercises caution.
Dominique reports the email as a phish, she notifies the health care facility's I.T. and security team about the email and then sends an email to the other executives in her department reminding them of proper cyber safety protocol. Due to her commitment to learning and spreading awareness, Dominique transforms into a Cyber Galaxy Defender!
Anon: I just don't get it, Phish! Dominique didn't open my malicious Excel document. Where have I gone wrong? There must be something I can use... Something I can do...
Chris: Well, well, well. If it isn't the face behind the screen who has been launching attacks against our organization.
Cindy: I bet you thought you could take our organization down. But we are more cyber secure than you thought.
Dan: Through communicating with our team members, staying up to date with cyber security awareness training, and staying alert and aware, we were able to foil your plans.
Dominique: We know you’re not the last of the attacks we'll see, but this is the last we will see of you.
While we were able to stop Anon this time, remember that there are always threats looming around every corner. Stay up to date with your cyber security awareness training so that you too can become a Cyber Defender!
